The Ecoflag was flying for the first time
at this downhill event at the Kusatsu Plains / Tengu Ski Resort.
The athletes competed to beat the clock in this beautiful, natural
setting.

Preparations are underway for this year's
Bicycle for Everybody's Earth (BEE) ride from the northern tip of Japan
to the southern part of Kyushu.
The event promotes awareness and green living in Japan and involves
local communities in numerous awareness raising and action orientated
activities along its route.
The ride starts on 5 August and anyone
wanting to support the ride or involve them in environmental activities
in their area should check the schedule on the BEE website at

| *Tour de Tucson Mountains |

*The Tour de Tucson
Mountains, organized by the Perimeter Bicycling Association of America
(PBAA), took place with a record attendance on 25 April 2004. The
organization has been flying the Ecoflag at all its events under the
slogan 'Cycle in Clean Air - Think Environment'. This year's event also
raised funds for educational and medical programs for children.

Alishan Organic Center in Hidaka, Saitama is taking part in
environmental action by joining in river clean ups in the surrounding
area.

| The
Tour de Tucson is a yearly cycle race. GSA Executive Director Tatsuo
Okada was there to explain about GSA's activities and the Ecoflag
project. Participants stuck the Ecoflag stickers on their bikes, which
was especially popular with the children. |

| The 20th El Tour de Tucson
took place on 23rd November with over 6000 cyclists taking part in
America?s largest perimeter bicycling event. Professionals and amateurs
alike take part in the 108, 81, 62 or 35-mile events. Cyclists as young
as 3 (in the children event) and as old as 84 have taken part and over
$13-million has been raised for various charities. |
