|
|
|
|
Sunday, September 19, Eco Bicycle Patrol was present for the first edition of ROMEUFONTAINE MASSI, the first cycling event in the Catalan region.
The great journey of 120km has an elevation gain of 2100m. Its level of difficulty is less well known than the usual Cols of the Pyrenees or Alps, but was a surprise to even some of the seasoned competitors because of the altitude that does not descend below 1000m.
The last race of the season and one of the best by all accounts due to the atmosphere, the organization, security, the course, but also the landscape.
Unfortunately there was some unacceptable behavior with littering, but most participants support us in rebuking the polluters.

| As
they have for the last 3 years, the Eco-Cyclo Patrol took to the
streets around Marsaille for Les Bosses du 13, one of the last events
of the season. The final of the Trophee Label d'Or 2010, the ride
attracted 2,600 participants.
The patrol, led by Paul Antoine Lanfranchi, Chairman of
the Commission on Sustainable Development of the FFC, was greeted on
the start by Francois Guillot, President of Velo Club La Pomme
Marseille, alongside the usual guests of the event, Nathalie Simon,
Alain Prost and Bernard Darniche, among others who also enjoyed the
friendly hospitality of the organizers.
The Eco-Cyclo Patrol, present on all routes, raised
awareness and spread their message of not throwing away litter in the
midst of the wild landscape through which they pass.

September--La Midi Libre Cycl Aigoual 2010 was held in Vigan on Sunday,
Sept. 12. The late summer sun, radiating across the beautiful Cevennes,
greeted the nearly 700 cyclists taking part.
The new route for the 11th edition was particularly beautiful, with 5
long climbs and spectacular views over the Cevennes landscape.
The event has always evolved towards greater simplicity,
involving fewer cars and actively managing waste problems.
Environmental efforts are considered in the planning stages involving
the communities and villages along the route.

31, 2010--Cycling legend tells that in the distant Baretous Valley,
birthplace of the famous Musketeers, is a treasure of three gems
accessible by bikers adventurous enough to make it through the
wilderness of La Pierre Saint Martin, known for its caves, canyons and
dense forests.
This year, nearly four hundred brave cyclists set out
hunting the Treasury under a blazing sun.
The first jewel id the Col du Soudet, one of the hardest
passes in France. The second jewel, the Issarbe, is the toughest. After
a dozen miles of climbing in the forest, it reveals a splendid view
over the Baretous valley and the impressive pyramid of the limestone
peak Anie. The third jewel, Labaye Issale, climbed on to a small road
to an area often isolated and a bit scary, especially when you know
that this forest is one of the last refuges of bears in Bearn.
The Eco Bicycle Patrol reported good eco-manners on the
course with all competitors aware of the impact of change in this
unique and fragile environment.

| Tuesday,
July 13, 2010-- Tournus and Cluny , the sumptuous and green heart of
the country, was host to this event, remarkably well organization by
Alain Pradier.
The EcoCyclo patrol took the environmental message and
Alain Pradier, organizer and chairman of the FCC Burgundy, is
particularly sensitive to the message and supportive of the endeavor.
Like last year, the weather was unusually warm and
participants were found throwing water bottles by the side of the road
after refueling stations, and establishing official collection sites
after the stations was seen as a possible solution to this.
On the paper and packaging side, it was rather
remarkable clean compared to other such events.

| *L'Ariegeoise--Cycling Green |
|
|
|
|
| With
its mountains, valleys, forests, grasslands, snowy peaks, and rivers,
it is no understatement to say the Ariege is green!
The 4100 cyclists left to navigate the roads of L'Ariege
2010 saw green everywhere and of course on the uniforms of the EcoCyclo
Patrol, spreading the word of eco citizenship to the crowd.
There is still some progress to be made and there were
some small difficulties in the supply of cups and bottles. This year
has been very vigilant about these things, but it is always difficult
to manage dozens of thirsty cyclists, some on the verge of dehydration,
in these first days of intense heat.
Undoubtedly attitudes are evolving in the right
direction, with the help of the patrol in the Pyrenees, under the
leadership of Pierre Gadiou.

|
|
| Nearly
400 cyclists from all over France were at the start of the 2010 Beam
CyclEspoir in the suburbs of Pau under gray skies but thankfully no
rain.
Some of the local cycling personalities such as Hubert
Arbes (former teammate of Bernard Hinault), Marcel Queheille (winner of
a climb in the Tour de France in 1959) were present to encourage the
competitors and the widow of Raymond Mastrotto, winner of a Tour stage
to Pau.
The event offered a full course (the Val d'Ossau--183 km and 3400
meters of height difference) and a short course (the Marie Blanque--112
km and 1600 meters of height difference).
The organization of the event was perfect at all levels through the
efforts of Jean-Jacques Teschen, responsible for organization and
Jean-Marc Demartelaere responsible for security, and to whom the Eco
Cyclo Patrol offered thanks for their hospitality.

| *The Quebrantahuesos 2010 |
|
|
|
|
| Monday,
June 21, 2010--For its twentieth anniversary, Quebrantahuesos further
escalated the limits of its possibilities, welcoming more than 10,000
cyclists, but it required tremendous human resources and logistical
support, under the supervision of Roberto Iglesias.
The atrocious weather at the summit Somport provide a
challenged for hundreds of cyclists that were ill-prepared or struggled
with the descent from the Aspe Valley. 6,000 cyclists however, still
managed to reach the finish.
The Quebrantahuesos is the monument to the glory of
European Cyclosport, and the Eco Bicycle Patrol Patrol were 12 strong
at the start line to make sure participants adhere to the environmental
principals of the event.

| *The Green Patrol rolls into the Verdon |
|
|
|
| Sunday,
May 30, 2010--The views of Lake St. Croix, Valensole plateau and gorges
nearby, inspire respect for the natural environmental a desire to be an
Eco Ride in 2010.
It was clear that the majority of the 800 cyclists have
also heard appeals by the facilitator and the warnings of the
organizers, as the nature of Verdon was not polluted by the passing of
this beautiful Cyclosportive event.
A further confirmation that attitudes are changing in
the right direction, although there is always some grumpy participants
that don't respect the area, the appeals of the organizers or their
cycling friends--the EcoPatrol, working hard to complete their mission.
The Patrol was really satisfied with this beautiful
event, held on a natural spring day. Thank you to Jean Yves Cauvin and
his team.

|
|
|
| The
event took a significant turn for its 23rd edition, leaving the
historic site of Tassin la Demi Lune, for the village of Grezieu
Lavarenne, door to the Monts du Lyonnais, and thus providing the
organization with a healthy breath of fresh air and direct access to
the natural environment and amazing scenery essential to the success of
a mass cycling event.. The Eco Cyclo patrol, faithful to his habits,
was present in numbers to support the 1,800 participants and a new set
up provide water supply points from jerry cans, rather than relying on
mountains of cups or small bottles.

| Great
Spring weather welcomed Le Bisou 2010, which has steadily grown and now
is entering the circle of events to get over 1,000 participants. Taking
into account that the Valerie Charpigny's team has set a limit to the
number of participants in order to ensure a quality event, it is clear
that Le Bisou has the potential to become an event that stands out on
the national calendar.
Environmental issues weren't ignored with the selective
screening of sites and event supplies, cleaner vehicles used and
repeated information throughout.
The only downside of this beautiful sunny day of sport
was the availability of small plastic 33 cl water bottles that were
used and discarded by the riders.

|
| Cyclists
in the Pinar del Rio municipality has always kept a close connection
with the great and the diverse natural reservation of flora and fauna
the area provides.
Through the years the team has also contributed to the
improvement of the environment in other ways. Since our sportsmen need
a healthy environment to practice sport, they have frequently organized
environmental activities such as tree planting, clean ups, and
recycling raw materials, such as tires, iron and aluminium cans. These
athletes donate these raw materials to the State for recycling and in
this way contribute to the development of a sustainable economy, as
well as ensuring a healthy environment that allows us to practice sport
in a safe arena. ?
