Tuesday, July 13, 2010-- Tournus and Cluny , the sumptuous and green heart of the country, was host to this event, remarkably well organization by Alain Pradier.
The EcoCyclo patrol took the environmental message and Alain Pradier, organizer and chairman of the FCC Burgundy, is particularly sensitive to the message and supportive of the endeavor.
Like last year, the weather was unusually warm and participants were found throwing water bottles by the side of the road after refueling stations, and establishing official collection sites after the stations was seen as a possible solution to this.
On the paper and packaging side, it was rather remarkable clean compared to other such events.

With its mountains, valleys, forests, grasslands, snowy peaks, and rivers, it is no understatement to say the Ariege is green!
The 4100 cyclists left to navigate the roads of L'Ariege 2010 saw green everywhere and of course on the uniforms of the EcoCyclo Patrol, spreading the word of eco citizenship to the crowd.
There is still some progress to be made and there were some small difficulties in the supply of cups and bottles. This year has been very vigilant about these things, but it is always difficult to manage dozens of thirsty cyclists, some on the verge of dehydration, in these first days of intense heat.
Undoubtedly attitudes are evolving in the right direction, with the help of the patrol in the Pyrenees, under the leadership of Pierre Gadiou.

Nearly 400 cyclists from all over France were at the start of the 2010 Beam CyclEspoir in the suburbs of Pau under gray skies but thankfully no rain.
Some of the local cycling personalities such as Hubert Arbes (former teammate of Bernard Hinault), Marcel Queheille (winner of a climb in the Tour de France in 1959) were present to encourage the competitors and the widow of Raymond Mastrotto, winner of a Tour stage to Pau.
The event offered a full course (the Val d'Ossau--183 km and 3400 meters of height difference) and a short course (the Marie Blanque--112 km and 1600 meters of height difference).
The organization of the event was perfect at all levels through the efforts of Jean-Jacques Teschen, responsible for organization and Jean-Marc Demartelaere responsible for security, and to whom the Eco Cyclo Patrol offered thanks for their hospitality.

|
|
|
|
|
Monday, June 21, 2010--For its twentieth anniversary, Quebrantahuesos further escalated the limits of its possibilities, welcoming more than 10,000 cyclists, but it required tremendous human resources and logistical support, under the supervision of Roberto Iglesias.
The atrocious weather at the summit Somport provide a challenged for hundreds of cyclists that were ill-prepared or struggled with the descent from the Aspe Valley. 6,000 cyclists however, still managed to reach the finish.
The Quebrantahuesos is the monument to the glory of European Cyclosport, and the Eco Bicycle Patrol Patrol were 12 strong at the start line to make sure participants adhere to the environmental principals of the event.

|
Sunday, May 30, 2010--The views of Lake St. Croix, Valensole plateau and gorges nearby, inspire respect for the natural environmental a desire to be an Eco Ride in 2010.
It was clear that the majority of the 800 cyclists have also heard appeals by the facilitator and the warnings of the organizers, as the nature of Verdon was not polluted by the passing of this beautiful Cyclosportive event.
A further confirmation that attitudes are changing in the right direction, although there is always some grumpy participants that don't respect the area, the appeals of the organizers or their cycling friends--the EcoPatrol, working hard to complete their mission.
The Patrol was really satisfied with this beautiful event, held on a natural spring day. Thank you to Jean Yves Cauvin and his team.

The Eco Cyclo patrol, faithful to his habits, was present in numbers to support the 1,800 participants and a new set up provide water supply points from jerry cans, rather than relying on mountains of cups or small bottles.

Great Spring weather welcomed Le Bisou 2010, which has steadily grown and now is entering the circle of events to get over 1,000 participants. Taking into account that the Valerie Charpigny's team has set a limit to the number of participants in order to ensure a quality event, it is clear that Le Bisou has the potential to become an event that stands out on the national calendar.
Environmental issues weren't ignored with the selective screening of sites and event supplies, cleaner vehicles used and repeated information throughout.
The only downside of this beautiful sunny day of sport was the availability of small plastic 33 cl water bottles that were used and discarded by the riders.

Cyclists in the Pinar del Rio municipality has always kept a close connection with the great and the diverse natural reservation of flora and fauna the area provides.
Through the years the team has also contributed to the improvement of the environment in other ways. Since our sportsmen need a healthy environment to practice sport, they have frequently organized environmental activities such as tree planting, clean ups, and recycling raw materials, such as tires, iron and aluminium cans.
These athletes donate these raw materials to the State for recycling and in this way contribute to the development of a sustainable economy, as well as ensuring a healthy environment that allows us to practice sport in a safe arena. ?

|
|
|
The Eco-Cyclo Patrol wraps up the 2009 season in Marsaille with "les Bosses du 13", and a year that has seen excellent work done and recorded significant progress at most events where organizers incorporated eco-responsibility into their event.
The Eco-Cyclo Patrol is spearheading the ECO CYCLING program, backed by the FFC, as part of its of Sustainable Cycling Action Plan.
More than 60 cyclists have taken part in the Patrol across 22 events on the regional, national and international levels, reaching more than 58,000 cyclists of all ages and levels.
A number of former champions, business leaders and media personalities have publicly supported these actions and we look optimistically to an even more committed season in 2010.
Thank you to the Patrol for their perseverance and commitment, to the partners that engaged with the Patrol and the organizers convinced of the need for this program.

Promoting environmental awareness and cycling, the Japan Cycling Association's 3rd Mt. Fuji Eco-Cycling 2009 took place on 12-13 September, around the perimeter of Japan's iconic mountain.
Starting and finishing at Yamanakako in Yamanashi prefecture, the event has attracted an increasing number of participants each year, reaching 1500 cyclists in 2009. GSA supporters take part each year and there was a GSA Booth set up as usual.
An environmental forum was held on 12th with GSA Executive Director, Tatsuo Okada, Perimeter Bicycling Association of America's, Richard DeBernardis and former pro-cyclist Jamie Carne taking part. Clean ups are also organized around the event, which is contributing in the campaign to make Mt. Fuji a world heritage site.

La Lapebie, the last cycling event of the season in the Pyrenees took place on September 6, 2009 at Luchon (Haute-Garonne)
Nearly a thousand participants took part in the event that features 3 legendary cols of the Tour de France--the difficult Port Bales (1755 m), made famous by the 2007 Tour, the Col de Mente (1349 m), and the Col du Portillon (1293 m).
In an environment this sumptuous, the behavior of cyclists was generally good although some garbage was discarded at the foot of the Col des Ares.
In the general course of 156 kilometers and 3400 meters in altitude, Maxime Martin was the first to cross the finish line ahead of Mathieu Dumont and Laurent Four. Karine SAYSSET ended unsurprisingly the top ranking female.
At the finish all competitors found themselves in a very friendly atmosphere around an excellent meal and unanimously recognized the quality of the course and organization.

For the first time in its history, "l'Etape du Tour Mondovelo" was held on 20 July, on the Montelimar--Mont Ventoux course, and the Eco-Cyclo Patrol played a pivotal role in the event promoting strong environmental values.
More than 100 committed cyclists worked throughout the event to promote environmentally friendly attitudes and the organizerfs efforts to promote awareness paid off beyond expectations. While some fans still have not seen the benefits of eco-citizen behavior in their sport, environmental awareness now blazes a trail through the most beautiful Cyclosportive events in the cycling calendar.
Finally, French Champion, Dimitri Champion highlighted the Patrolfs message at the event start line. The event joins other famous French "Cycling for All" events such as the Ardechoise and the Ariegeoise, events in Spain, Italy, and soon Germany and the UK. The Eco-Cyclo Patrol will be present throughout the events to convey a message of Eco-citizenship.

The competitors' behavior was exemplary and few packages were thrown on the road. Even the event doctor of the event was wearing a green jersey for Eco-awareness.

7 June--The Bearn Cycl'Espoir is the first race of the season for the Eco Bike Patrol in the Pyrenees.
This beautiful event combines sport and generosity in raising funds for research into charcot disease.
This is an opportunity for a reunion fans of the corner after three months will have the opportunity to review the many organized cycling in the mountains.
Initially, at Laroin in the suburbs of Pau, the atmosphere is very friendly once again under a clear sky after heavy rain the previous day that have discouraged many participants.
Andre Darrigade, sponsor of the 156 km event, started the event and groups formed quickly as the event rode through green slopes towards the valley of Ossau by the pretty towns of Bruges and Louvie-Juzon.
At the foot of the Col d'Aubisque, thebiggest challenge of the day, the Raymond Mastrotto trophy (donated by his wife Colette) was up for grabs, causing a great fight between the best riders.
The sublime descent of the Litor ridge unfortunately saw a few riders offload their waste, but were soon taken to task. Fortunately, such behaviors becomes increasingly rare.

Participants were again encouraged to be eco-citizens and the organizers, led by the indefatigable Patrick BLIGNY, have fully supported the presence of the Patrol. Elected officials and dignitaries at the head of which we find the President of the Burgundy Region, Francois PATRIAT, were involved in setting the 107-km course and enjoyed the presence of the Patrol.
