At the Kite Surf Tournament, Ecoflag was flying at the event.
We tried to make a beach clean up
with the athletes, but the weather wasn't good, so we couldn't
make it, but the speaker of the event talked a lot of message
about Ecoflag.

The 'Snowstyle Cup' took place at the Washigatake Ski Slope in
Gifu Prefecture on 7-8 February 2004.
Studio Japaho was there to promote their SBN Snowboard Net (specialist
snowboarders website) and The Snow Bully(i-mode snowboarders website),
and
they were displaying the Ecoflag prominently on their booth.
Eco-s is their environmental initiative to increase environmental
awareness
and action among snowboarders, and the Ecoflag was being flown
to get that
message across..
At the Washigatake Ski Slope, they're committed to keeping their
mountain
clean and the DJ asked the crowd to not carelessly discard litter
and
tobacco butts throughout the day. Unfortunately, a lot of trash
was
discarded, and it was sad to realize that environmental awareness
is still
low among the snowboarding community.
However, it also reconfirmed our commitment to spreading the Eco-s
wave
until we can stand on a mountain of nothing but beautiful powdered
snow.

It was through an enjoyment of snowboarding and an appreciation
of the natural environment that developed from it, that SBN established
eco-s (http://eco-s.jp (Japanese only)), a wave of self-motivated
action and awareness raising by snowboarders.
The Ecoflag was flying during the evening party where participants

Flying on Tokai University Skiing Field Trip |
|
|
A skiing field trip for Tokai University student took place 14-17
January at the Tsumagoi Takahara research center in Gunma prefecture. About
100
students took part in the trip to the Pallcall and Baraki Tsumagoi
ski
resorts, situated 1400 meters above sea level with views reaching
as far as
Mount Asama.
The future of winter sports the subject of a report by UNEP at
the 5th World
Conference on Sports and Environment, which took place in Torino
at the end
of last year. According to the report, in a worse case scenario,
nine ski
locations in Australia and up to sixty percent of Swiss resorts
could be
wiped out by 2030, due to the effects of global warming. Creating
artificial
snow has a larger environmental impact and could make resorts
cost-ineffective. Switzerland, which relies heavily on its winter
sports
industry, could stand to lose over a $1 billion in revenue. Environmental
problems the health and performance of athletes, but threaten to
curtail our
lifestyles, our ability to enjoy sport and even our nation's economies.
