*A Hundred Climb Mount Fuji 2004

Mt. Fuji Climbing 2004

Encouraging a rediscovery of Japan and exchange with local people, Keiichiro Nakamura once again runs his "A Hundred Climb Mount Fuji", supported by ANCHORRING.JAPAN. Program deputy, Daisuke Goto, explains that the project teaches young people about the harshness of nature, as well as challenging the spirit and forging new friendships. It also teaches participants about the importance of reducing garbage and the influence that our refuse can have on the environment. It is hoped that the program will help the young people taking part become more aware about the problems facing the natural environment.

I was involved in running the 36th All-Japan Dentistry Student's Junko Baseball Tournament from 3-7 August. We flew the Ecoflag throughout, including below the event poster at the Seahawk Hotel and Resort reception party, during the environmental oath and here for the Commemorative photo that included all the 15 Universities from around Japan that took part.
The flag was also flying above the home stand and center scoreboards at baseball stadiums in Kasuga city and in Fukuoka city, where the event was taking place from the 4th August.
All the teams did there part to reduce garbage and clean up- including the final in Kasuga Park Baseball Stadium.

Fukaura lies at the base of the Shirakami mountain district and is blessed
with not just the mountain landscape but the ocean and a healthy fishing

*Gassan Summer Ski and Japan Sea Yacht Race

Ski at Gassan Mt.
Japan Sea Yacht Race

Date: 19-20 June 2004

Run by the local authorities for 10 years the event was to be scraped last year due to the merging of municipalities. However, not wanting to see the event end, local organizers have taken it upon themselves to run the event. Although this year’s event was on a smaller scale due to lack of preparation time, next year should be back on track.

The event takes place at the Gassan Summer ski slopes and then shifts down the mountain to the Nezugaseki Marina that sits on the Japan Sea. Poor visibility was a problem for the skiers as they were timed over two runs. Resisting the temptation to dive into the hot springs, they then headed for the marina for a 2-circuit triangular yacht race, held in conjunction with the Yamagata Sailing Federation. An after event party was held at a local sushi shop where participants enjoyed the seasonal oysters and planned next year’s event.

22 May (Saturday), This annual event took place at the Minami Futsuka Machi Ground in Mishima City. About 350 people took part, making up 18 teams plit into two blocks. The event is always fun and is a great way to relieve daily stress and strain. The Ecoflag was introduced by the company President last year at the 40th Yazaki Athletics Meet, and it was flying this time too, along with stringent garbage collection and separation in order to leave the venue 'looking more beautiful than when we arrived.'
The photo shows winning teams from courts A and B: the Bifurcation Team and the Quality Control/NYS Team.
