* I volunteered for this event soon after returning from taking part in the GSA Dream Camps in Nairobi, Kenya.

The event was delayed for a day due to a typhoon, and took place under rainy skies. Environmental messages were gathered before the event, environmental prizes awarded to 2 teams and after the opening ceremony, all those involved took part in a beach clean. I was even more impressed to see that eliminated teams did not just pack up and leave, but volunteered to collect garbage and beautify the area. In fact there were more people collecting garbage at the closing ceremony, than at the opening ceremony.

The competition takes place every year and these good practices look set to continue.
